I'd stop to smell the flowers if there were any

With the cold weather, I haven't been as faithful with my walking regimen as I would like, but I went yesterday to my walking place, a local park with lots of hills and scenery. I didn't go to walk, but I went, instead, to just calm my mind and enjoy the scenery. Whenever my mind gets overwhelmed, I like to just drive and listen to music. It's not that I was upset about anything, but I've just been thinking a lot about jobs, building a house, events I'm responsible for planning, kids I'm working with, etc. So, as I rode around jamming to Rocket Man and Galaxy (complete with the Big Mac verse), this is the view I had...

I love winter with the warm sweaters, cozy blankets, and steaming cups of hot cocoa, but I miss spring for all of its flowers, butterflies, and songbirds. So, instead of stopping to smell the flowers, I tripped over this..

Green is the new black, and bowls are the new hats.

It's amazing to me to think that at this time last year, Trent was just a bundle of baby that could do nothing for himself, and now he's walking, talking Trentonese, and apparently learning to dress himself. He's obviously got his mom's fashion sense.

All parents will tell you that time goes faster when you have a little one... I can't figure out why. Is it because we're just too busy to feel the time fleeting? Is it because we're so tired our memories can't last long enough to realize how much time has actually passed? Or is it because we are so enthralled with these little creatures that everything else around us just melts away and doesn't matter anymore?

So, here's to bowls on our heads, blankets in our hands, and daddy's boots on our feet.

Frah-Jee-Lay... It must be French

Everytime I see the word "Fragile" it reminds me of A Christmas Story when the dad gets that awul lamp (which, by the way, has a Christmas ornament made in its likeness, that I begged my husband to let me get this year... I was shot down, just as if he were holding an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle).

I love this picture because, other than the fact it has my baby in a box, which never seems to grow old with me, it states, "Do not freeze. Do not drop." If only all babies came with instructions, huh?

Initiation

So, in the past, I've been not so great about keeping up a blog. We'll see if this endeavor is any different. Anyway, this is coming along with a resolution (not a New Year's resolution, just a general "this is what I want to do" kind of thing) to start taking more pictures of more things, not just snapshots of my family, in an attempt to appreciate God's creations a little more. OK... and the fact that I'm trying to find justification in purchasing a new digital camera, and a little more use and practice of the current one would help me out a lot.

So, as a start, I'll introduce myself:
I'm Julie

This is my family:

Ronnie (hubs) , Lane (step-son), & Trent (son)
